Who Am I?
My name is Shelvani (Shelly) Reddy. I moved to beautiful Sydney Australia from Fiji in 2001. Like every immigrant I came here with big dreams. The dream to own my own house, car and have a steady job.
I thought I was living the dream when I finally got a full time job. Now I could borrow money to buy a house and a car. Like most people I worked hard day in day out and thought this was the life until one day my Mum got diagnosed with Cervical Cancer. Mum went through with her treatment and was back to living her normal life but after 6 months the cancer returned. We were told that due to Mum’s age she wouldn’t be able to have chemotherapy again.
Mum returned back to Fiji and her condition got worse. I decided to go spend time with her. The night I was returning back home to Australia she kept asking me stay and spend more time with her however I couldn’t stay because I had to return to work so I could “pay the mortgage and bills”. A week later my Mum passed away.
I spent the next five years living with guilt and regret if only I stayed. Instead of feeling guilty, I decided that I will not let history repeat itself and decided to make myself financially independent so I can be there for my loved ones when they need me and not worry about how I will pay my bills if I am not physically at work hence my journey to starting a Digital Business and Financial Independence.
Life is for living and I hope I can help others along the way to live life how they wish to.
My motto now is…..Living Life, My Way.
