Must Read Personal Finance Books to Achieve Financial Independence

Books can help change lives and one such book changed my life and I have never looked back. After which reading or listening to audible became one of my favourite things to do.

Here are a few books (with few golden points) which I have personally enjoyed reading and which has helped me immensely on my road to Financial Freedom.

RICHEST MAN IN BABYLON by George S. Clason

This is the book which changed my life and put on track to FI. If you find finance a boring topic this is a fun read and easy read and help you change your views about wealth.

To fulfil your dreams and desires, you must be successful with Money.

  • Pay yourself first – From whatever you earn try and save 10% of it
  • Invest Wisely – Find ways to multiply your money
  • Do not invest your money in things you don’t know about

THE AUTOMATIC MILLIONAIRE by David Bach

Perfect read for anyone who love to spend doing the things they love and less time counting every penny.

Automate your finances so you can spend more time living and less time worrying about money.

Golden Takeaway Points

  • Pay yourself first – Save and invest 10% of your earnings
  • Set up an Automatic Emergency Account – This will protect you in unforeseen circumstances
  • Pay off your Debts – Interest is waste of money so once debt is paid off don’t get into debt again

SECRETS OF THE MILLIONAIRE MINDS by T. Harv Eker

A book to help change the money mindset. Think like the rich do and become rich.

If you want to change the fruits, you will first need to change the roots.

  • Be the creator of your life and take full responsibility of it. Stop complaining and start doing.
  • Focus on opportunities and rewards instead of worrying about failure

THE SIMPLE PATH TO WEALTH by JL Collins

For anyone who has believed that investing is complicated and is best left to the experts this one is for you.

Financial Independence isn’t as complex as the “experts” make it out to be.

  • Eliminate debt and unnecessary spending.
  • Invest for the long term. There are no shortcuts to being rich.
  • Money gives us freedom to the things we love and wish to do.

FINANCIAL FREEDOM by Grant Sabatier

This is a personal favourite of mine. This book has a different take to reaching Financial Independence. For years we have been told to reduce our expenses but this book makes us look outside the box and increase concentrates mostly on earning more as there is only so much we can save. A complete package.

When you have enough money you have more space and time to explore the world.

  • Calculate your net worth – this is the most important number in your Financial life
  • Start a profitable side hustle and diversify your income streams
  • Invest as much as you can and as early as you can

THE BAREFOOT INVESTER by Scott Pape

A blueprint for all wanting to achieve financial freedom and simply a no BS straight to the point guide. It covers everything from saving, managing, and investing your hard earned cash.

When it comes to financial success, control is key. 3 buckets structure.

  • Everyday Bucket – runs your day-to-day life, save for holiday and have fun
